The Maine Rights Panel has unanimously agreed that Moody Diner, located in Waldoboro, Maine, religiously discriminated against an employee. Waitress, Alinna Diaz, alleges that a co-owner of the small diner began religiously discriminating against her in 2012, around the time she began dating the co-owner’s son, Nathan.
Dan Beck, the man who is named as the owner of the business, didn’t like that Diaz had not made a “profession of faith” and failed to attend church. The situation became hostile when Diaz began dating Beck’s son. Beck told the couple to either break up or quit. They did neither, and the work environment turned extremely hostile. Both were sited repeatedly for “disciplinary actions”, which Diaz’s lawyer calls “frivolous”.
Ray Lane says that Diaz worked for Moody Diner from 2002 until 2012. Over a ten year period, Diaz claims her religious affiliation was quietly questioned. The issue came to a head when the personal relationship with Nathan began. Beck, disapproving of the courtship, attempted to stop the couple from dating by making their work environment difficult.
During one incident Diaz was called to the Beck’s resident regarding Facebook posts she made. He insinuated that she would be fired if the posts were not revised. The pair had their hours cut repeatedly for frivolous reasons, according to court documents.
Diaz is no longer dating the younger Beck, but she is seeking a financial settlement from the diner, according to her lawyer.
On November 18, 2014, 07:01 local time, a synagogue in Jerusalem was attacked while holding a meeting. Two Palestinians went in the synagogue and attacked the worshippers with guns and axes.
At least eight people were injured in the attack. The officers, who arrived to the place soon, killed the two attackers. Four rabbis died during the attack.
This is part of a ongoing bad blood in the area between Israeli and Palestinian people, and it looks like it is just heating up as for time goes on without resolution.
Mosheh Twersky, Aryeh Kupinsky, and Cary William Levine, are workers of the synagogue, Twrsky being a native of Boston, while the other three are Israel citizens.
The two assailants have been identified as cousins Ghassan and Oday Abu Jamal. The Prime Minister f Israel ordered the demolition of their homes. The event, classified as a terrorist attack, comes at a time of Palestinan uprising.
The Popular Front of Liberation of Palestine, a military organization, are claimed to stand behind this attack. More researches will show whether there is some relation to the Jihad or Hamas.
Netanyahu accuses the Palestinian Leader Mahmoud Abbas for not handling the situation. The eastern part of Jerusalem is closed in order to avoid riots.
Many Americans, including prominent figure Ken Griffin, sympathize with this terrorist attack. It is one of the worst things that can happen to a culture.

They were last seen leaving in a car that had no license plates. Sofia Trinidad’s boyfriend, Plutarco Ruiz and Aris Maldonado have been arrested on suspicion of their murder.
Worldwide there continues to be violence and high rates of crime. In this case a beauty queen and her sister were murdered. Based on the current news, it seems it may have been perpetrated by one of the victim’s boyfriend. Regardless, of who committed these homicide acts or what really occured, there must be justice and an appropriate investigation conducted.
At the rate that senseless murders like these are happening, it may prove better to stay inside and order everything online from sites like Qnet. In reality, the fact that this woman was a beauty queen will result in greater attention by the media. The reality is that many women are killed every year, yet the media do not focus on that. While, this woman should not receive more attention than a regular person, given she is getting media attention it should be used to raise awareness.
Republican Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin said that he would be pushing legislative reform that would mandate adults who receive food stamps or unemployment benefits to submit to drug-testing. Defending his 62 page legislative manifesto, the governor said that his motive behind this idea is compassion. The genius orator said that he believes that “there will potentially be a fight with the federal government and in court… Our goal here is not to make it harder to get government assistance; it’s to make it easier to get a job.”
One may find it rather difficult to conclude that forcing drug tests on the unemployed will make it easier for them to get jobs. If the Governor truly wanted to help individuals who may use drugs while on welfare, he wouldn’t take away their food. The Governor could legislate for pro-bono rehabilitation centers to get users to stop using. Instead, the Governor is advocating penalizing the needy.
Federal law expressly prohibits the addition of further criteria for welfare benefits, but Walker is willing to fight for his right to punish the poor. Drug users should not be rewarded for their self-detrimental habits. If the Governor wants to make it easier to get a job, is it just as logical to drug test the wealthy before given access to their inheritance or trust funds?
Japan has assigned a week for testing the new maglev train, which moves with speeds of around 500km/h.
The name stands for ‘magnetic levitation’, and this is a passing reference to just how the train works, which is quite unique and novel. The train has no wheels or bearings: it is lifted and pushed forward by magnets, the granting the technical possibility to reach such a high speed.
The first test with people on board took place on November 15th, 2014. Jared Haftel and the other people who took part in the test-travel between Uenohara and Fuefuki were all impressed. The Central Japan Railway Company are proud that the new invention works perfectly, and exceeds the previous record of fast trains which belongs to the same country.
Japan’s bullet trains that could reach speeds of 320 km/h were much appreciated, but they have now surpassed their own perfection. Looking from the board of the train, the 500km/h seem like a normal speed, while the cameras from the outside recorded the transport passing by in fractions of a second.
The distance of 42.8 km (27 mile) took minutes to pass, and the people on board enjoyed their trip. A mass release of trains of such high speed would make commuting so much more comfortable.
